OUR TEAM

"Black & Gray" comes from the partners last names.

More than that, it is a statement about how the issue of addiction is not simply "black and white", but mostly gray.

ANDREW BLACKBIRD, RPC

Graduating with honours in the Counselling Diploma program at Maritime Business College in 2019, Andrew has enveloped practical knowledge and skills matched with firsthand experience to provide an authentic approach in treating those suffering from addictions.

For the past several years, Andrew has gained experience working at a sober living home with males in recovery, as well as working at a mental health facility as a residential counsellor. He continues to work with individuals in a variety of age groups that require treatment for addiction and mental health difficulties.

In his own recovery, Andrew attributes his ongoing success to staying balanced. While acknowledging  the value of 12 Step programs, Andrew likes to explore alternative ways of recovery. Understanding the 12 steps may not be for everyone and Andrew will work with clients to determine their own path.

Mark’s work experience includes working with shelter populations and with Inspire Recovery Addiction Counselling, facilitating a Recovery Coaching group, and counselling individuals from all walks of life.

He believes in a client-centred, trauma-informed approach, empowering clients to take control of their lives and regain their sense of trust and purpose.

OUR JOURNEY (SO FAR)

2020

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

During our education at Maritime Business College, and in the rooms of recovery groups, we began identifying gaps and needs in the current recovery system. These conversations led to the development of Black & Gray, and the vision of what we could bring to the "recovery" landscape.

2021

BLACK & GRAY ADDICTION SUPPORT INC. LAUNCHED

Over the last year, we began developing the necessary skills, graduated college with honours, and launched our services to the world while gaining experience in areas of the helping field.
